Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor - DGSA

Since 1st January 2000 any company involved in packaging, transporting, loading or unload Dangerous Goods by road or rail has been required to employ a Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor - DGSA.

It is a requirement under the ADR - International Road, RID - International Rail Agreements and the UK Carriage of Dangerous Goods Regulations with few exceptions.

Dangerous Goods Safety Advisors must hold a certificate valid for the type of operation advised upon, gained by written examinations.  The qualification is valid for 5 years and the same examinations must be sat for renewal as for the initial qualification.  The qualification is valid in all signatory countries to the ADR and RID agreements which include all European countries; the awarding body in the UK is SQA. 

Entry Requirements

There are no entry requirements for this qualification but we do advise either having substantial knowledge of the chemical transportation industry or attending an ADR course as the introduction qualification.

The examinations are open book so Corridans have designed their course to be highly interactive to ensure a candidates understanding and ability. The exams can be booked direct with SQA and cost £285 or through Corridans when booking your course.  Examinations are held by SQA four times a year.
Please note, that enrolment with the awarding body SQA, must be completed several weeks before the examination.

Optional is the current emergency action code list

These can be purchased from Corridans as part of the course or candidates are welcome to bring their own books.

Courses are run at Corridans training centre in Scunthorpe with a free supply of refreshments inc biscuits to help the study's along.
